Just found out the Backrooms movie is going to be rated R. I’m not sure how I feel about that because I think it means they are going to add in some things that I probably won’t like. I was really looking forward to some pure psychological stuff like in the YouTube videos by Kane Pixels. I know there are some monsters that do appear, but I worry they may push it into a gore area that is just unnecessary for something like the Backrooms. I hope I’m wrong, but I am worried.

Masters of the Universe Trailer
I’m old enough to have seen the He-Man cartoons when I was a kid, but I don’t really remember them. When I saw the teaser trailer for Masters of the Universe a few months back, this looked like the type of movie I would enjoy. Now that the full trailer is out, I definitely know this will be a movie I will enjoy.
The music in this trailer sounds amazing as well. I can’t wait to see this on the big screen!

Just got home from seeing the Lilo & Stitch live action movie. Was pretty good. Got me in the feels.

Went to the movie theater last night for the first time in almost a year. I was super excited to see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. As the usual stuff is playing before the movie, a trailer for a movie called Red One pops up. I haven’t seen anything about this movie, and I didn’t see the trailer come across any of my socials two months ago when the first trailer came out.
The minute I saw J.K. Simmons doing reps with a barbell counting out 497, 498, 499 … I was sold. Just those few seconds because I love J.K. Simmons and seeing a jacked J.K. Simmons made me want to see whatever the trailer turned out to be. Then I find out J.K. Simmons is playing Santa Clause?! What?! Shut up and take my money!
Throw in the Rock as an over-the-top head of Security and Chris Evans as a bounty hunter teaming up to rescue a kidnapped Santa Clause, and I knew I would have to see this movie when it comes out. It is just the right amount of wackiness that I know I will love it even if it turns out to be a terrible. I don’t care. I will love it. I already know this.

I just got home from watching Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and I loved it! It was the perfect amount of nonsense and silliness. I had a great time.

Decided to start watching the MCU movies that I never saw over the years. I’ve probably seen about half of them. Since Disney Plus has them all, I figured it couldn’t hurt to check out the ones I missed. And since Disney Plus has them in timeline order, I started at the beginning and started working through them. Here is a list of what I’ve watched over the last few weeks:
Thor
Avengers
Thor the Dark World
Captain America the Winter Soldier
Avengers Age of Ultron
Ant-Man
Ant-Man and The Wasp
EternalsI didn’t revisit any of the movies I’ve already seen, and maybe that was a mistake because there are references made of some of the other movies that I couldn’t quite remember some of the situations. Either way, I enjoyed them. Surprised I haven’t seen most of these until now.
Ant-Man and Ant-Man and The Wasp ended up being some of my favorites because the terrible jokes in the movies are my kind of humor. Especially the running gag with the magic tricks in the second Ant-Man movie. Plus anything with Jimmy Woo in it is always a win in my book.

Physical Media
Earlier this year, I started purchasing physical copies of movies again. I was big on streaming when it started becoming a thing, and I own quite a few digital movies, but I started wondering what would happen should I lose access to my digital movie collection. One of the providers I used for many years was Vudu. They were purchased by Walmart about 8 years ago and then Walmart sold Vudu off to Fandango a few years ago. I think it was earlier this year or late last year when I had to go through the process of merging my Vudu and Fandango accounts together.
I think that was the moment when I realized that I’ve been lucky so far, but I really don’t have a guarantee that my digital movie collection will be there 10 years from now. It made me rethink the idea of digital ownership. That was when I decided it was time to go back to buying something physical. The best part is, every movie I have purchased so far has a digital code that I can also use allowing me to enjoy having an actual copy and still being able to enjoy the convenience of streaming.
I realize that in 10 years time, the format I am buying my movies in may change. I think that was one of the reasons I started liking digital copies because I didn’t have to worry about some physical media format being killed off. However, I’m not as worried as I used to be. I have DVDs that I purchased 20 years ago that I can still watch. I guess it is just nice to know that I can actually hold what I purchased.
