I went down a rabbit hole today after having an itch to check out Humble Bundle and see if they have any good book bundles available. I haven’t been on Humble Bundle for a long time, and I just randomly thought about it today. I hopped onto the site and looked up their book bundles. They had 7 bundles, but only one of them piqued my interest, so I ended up purchasing it and adding 18 more books to my collection.

This got me to wondering how many books I’ve managed to pick up over the years. I’ve been using Humble Bundle since 2013, and a book bundle was the first bundle I purchased there when most of the people I know use it for games (I’ve also purchased some game bundles as well). I get most of my books in epub format and upload them to my Google Play Book library, so I hopped onto Google Play and looked up my library. I have uploaded 319 books over the years.

I realized that I also have some stuff in PDF format. Mainly a bunch of graphic novels and comics from different bundles as well, so I went and did the math on how many of those I’ve managed to collect. I have a total of 216 graphic novels and comics in my collection as well. That number actually surprised me because I discovered some older stuff that I forgot I had picked up with the intent to read. Honestly, most of this stuff was purchased with the intent to read, but I’ve read so little of the 535 books I’ve managed to get from Humble Bundle in the 11 years I’ve used the site.

That got me to wondering about my Amazon Kindle library as well. I have a ton of stuff I’ve managed to pickup for free through free book sites in my early years of owning a Kindle (fun fact: my first Kindle was a 2nd Gen Kindle complete with a keyboard on it). I’ve also been an Amazon Prime member for a long time and do the First Reads stuff every month, so there are a lot of books I’ve picked up that way as well. Plus, I do purchase books believe it or not. Not just through Humble Bundle. I have purchased stuff directly through Amazon as well. Turns out I have 480 books in my Kindle library, so that puts me at a total of 1,015 digital books in my collection.

That is crazy to think about, and it is a bit amusing, but I’m sure others are in a similar situation. I think a lot of us pick up digital books because they are easy to acquire and because we want stuff to read. Especially if you love to read. I know I’ve read more of my Kindle library than my Google Play Books library, but even then, I think I’ve only read somewhere around 130 of the books that I actually have in my collection. I usually pick up stuff from the library to read. In fact, I have five books from the library right now that I’m working on.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to share my rabbit hole. My name is Willenator, and I have an addiction. I love collecting books. Gotta collect them all!
